Xmas Party Guest DJs

Thursday 14th December sees the Black Tape Xmas Party. We hope to see you all down there for much festive booze and a mince pie. We have a rather large amount of guest DJs this month, with shorter sets, just for a bit of variety at Xmas. This one will probably be even more boozy than last time, and will be a good laugh, so get down there. We open at 10pm this time, so why not come down early for some cheap booze and slightly less dancy atmosphere for the first hour.

Grant (Saint Jude’s Infirmary)

What song are you most likely to play? Some Guitar Wolf and Street Hassle by Lou Reed, for the stomach churning silences and when Bruce Springsteen mumbles into earshot like a tramp picking a fight with himself.

Who was the first band you saw live? Dysart Colliery Band or Morrissey ; sadly they were on separate bills

What was the last album you bought? The new Bright Eyes album with the Daniel Johnston cover song

Favourite live act? Laurel Aitken / The 55’s

Band of the moment? Vern Schillinger’s Everloving Arms

What song would you have played at your funeral? Pink Carnations by Animals that Swim, Hit the North by The Fall, I’ll Keep it with Mine - Nico. The song which Jerry Lewis sings in the holocaust film where he is a clown entertaining the kids in Auschwitz, it is brutally sad.

Jamie (manager, Saint Jude’s Infirmary)

What song are you most likely to play? The Ronettes - Baby I Love You

Who was the first band you saw live? The Beastie Boys

What was the last album you bought? Tom Waits - Orphans

Favourite live act? The Leg

Band of the moment? Islands

What song would you have played at your funeral? dark was the night, cold was the ground - blind willie johnson

Muscles

What song are you most likely to play? Redman - Time 4 Sum Aksion (Silly hip-hop spelling and all)

Who was the first band you saw live? Michael Jackson, early ’90s History tour

What was the last album you bought? Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury

Favourite live act? Futureheads on the NME tour were good, as were The Streets at the Barrowlands. But Primal Scream edge it.

Band of the moment? Couldn’t answer this one as most bands at the moment annoy and disgust
me, CSS are pretty good though.

What song would you have played at your funeral? Something bombastic and self important, November Rain then.

Brian

Sophie (Korova)

Check out Korova at http://www.myspace.com/thekorovastate

Anna

What song are you most likely to play? Art Brut - Nag Nag Nag Nag

Who was the first band you saw live? Pulp at the SECC in 1998 - my sister
touched Jarvis’ hand. i am very jealous. they were amazing.

What was the last album you bought? Jarvis by Jarvis Cocker.

Favourite live act? I would love to say someone obscure but Muse always put
on a really good show

Band of the moment? I am enjoying the Long Blondes a lot.

What song would you have played at your funeral? erm Panic! at the Disco?
that would get everyone going.

Gordon

What song are you most likely to play? Listen Up (MSTRKRFT Remix) - The Gossip

Who was the first band you saw live? Inspiral Carpets (SECC 1991), to redeem myself the next gig was Teenage Fanclub and My Bloody Valentine.

What was the last album you bought? ‘Songs From Before’ - Max Richter

John (King Louie)

What song are you most likely to play? Totally Wired/Lie dream of a casino soul - The Fall

Who was the first band you saw live? Jimmy Page & Robert Plant (Led Zepplin) at the SECC in 1998. I loose cool points though as i went with my mum who is a huge Zepplin fan as well.

What was the last album you bought? The soundtrack to Zabriskie Point.

Favourite live act? …And you will know us by the trail of dead.

Band of the moment? The Scottish Enlightenment
